Real Stories. Meaningful Transformations.

Maria G. — Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Patient
After years of joint pain, hypermobility, dislocations, palpitations and confusion, I was finally diagnosed with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). After seeing many specialists, Dr. Margarita David’s personalized approach to genetic testing and expertise in connective tissue disorders finally gave me answers. She confirmed my diagnosis and created a personalized treatment plan including nutritional guidance, physical therapy, and micronutrient therapy. Within months, I noticed significant improvements in my joint stability and energy levels. Dr. David’s clear explanations and compassionate care have given me control over my condition for the first time in years. I am incredibly grateful for her expertise and support.
Emily S. — Family History of Cancer
With a strong family history of cancer, including my mother’s early breast cancer diagnosis, I wanted clarity about my own risks and how I could protect my future. I turned to Dr. Margarita N. David for guidance. Through a comprehensive genetic evaluation and personalized testing, we discovered a genetic mutation associated with an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Dr. David didn’t just explain the results she transformed them into a practical, personalized prevention plan. Her approach included regular monitoring, proactive checkups, lifestyle adjustments, nutritional strategies, micronutrient therapies, and hormonal support. Thanks to her expert guidance and early intervention, I feel empowered and more in control of my health and future.
Jessica M. — Expectant Mother
When I found out I was pregnant, my husband and I wanted to do everything possible to give our baby the best start in life. Because of our family histories, we were concerned about potential genetic risks and consulted Dr. Margarita N. David for a comprehensive genetic evaluation. Dr. David carefully reviewed our genetic backgrounds, guided us through the appropriate testing, and explained every result in a way that made us feel informed and reassured. While a few markers required monitoring, there were no significant concerns. What stood out was her personalized approach. She went beyond the test results to discuss preventive strategies, potential treatments if needed, and lifestyle adjustments to support our baby’s health even before birth. Thanks to Dr. David’s knowledge and compassionate care, we feel confident and at peace knowing we have taken proactive steps to protect our baby’s future.

FAQ

Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing that allows the physician to appropriately assess joint mobility and relevant physical features.

The examination may require visualization of your:

  • Hands and arms
  • Elbows
  • Knees and lower legs
  • Ankles and feet

You may be asked to remove your shoes and socks during the examination.

Many components of a genetics and connective tissue evaluation can be performed through telemedicine. Your physician will determine whether the virtual examination provides sufficient clinical information or whether an in-person examination is needed.

For telehealth, you must be in a private, quiet, well-lit, stationary location with reliable internet and enough room to safely stand and move.

EDS/hypermobility evaluations should not be performed while driving, traveling, or sitting inside a vehicle.

Your physician will review your symptoms, medical and family history, relevant records, and previous testing.

When appropriate, the visit may also include a detailed physical examination, joint hypermobility assessment, and evaluation for features associated with hereditary connective tissue disorders.

At the end of the evaluation, your physician will discuss the clinical impression and recommend the most appropriate next steps, including genetic testing or additional medical evaluation when indicated.

A final diagnosis may not always be established during the first visit.

A negative genetic test does not necessarily exclude a genetic condition.

We can review your previous testing to determine whether it adequately addressed your clinical presentation and whether broader testing, updated testing, reanalysis, or another diagnostic approach may be appropriate.

This is particularly important in hEDS, which remains a clinical diagnosis and currently does not have a single confirmatory genetic test.
